Looks like we avoid a beast fight for now! Those pesky high born beasts tend to be quite a bit bigger than hellhounds and lesser beasts, but Bernard's pretty scrappy so chances are they're a lot more evenly matched than Armaeus would like to believe.

Seeing as how Bernard can morph into a human, perhaps he has other shapes? However that may be, my guess is he’s much more of a fighter than Armaeus.

He has one other shape! But typically beasts are at their biggest in their natural shapes.

I don’t think there are any symbols on his sword unless I forgot? But most of the symbols I’ve used so far are different house symbols!
